The Democratic Party is the oldest political party in continuous operation in America and is one of the oldest parties in the world. The national party is divided into federal, state, county, and municipal committees that coordinate campaign activities within their respective jurisdictions. The Hoboken Democratic Party is comprised of 72 people who are elected each June to represent each of the 6 wards and 36 voting districts of Hoboken. This unpaid municipal body forms the foundation of the national party. Each committeeperson forges personal relationships with members of their community, champions the interests of their neighbors, and coordinates campaign activities for local and visiting candidates. Ultimately, these activities build communities around shared values and concerns. Concerns and values that find expression in the passionate voice of a Democratic Candidate.
